Clinical Pilates and Matwork

 

Pilates is a core conditioning exercise that focuses on the deep postural muscles of the hip, abdomen, lumbo-pelvis, trunk, spine and shoulder girdle to optimise body stability and posture. Pilates also connects mind and body together following eight sound principles:


Concentration, Breathing, Centering, Precision, Isolation, Routine, Control, Flowing movement. (reference APPI)

 

 

Clinical Pilates is an individually tailored treatment approach that is utilised in conjunction with other physiotherapy techniques. Clinical Pilates is designed to identify and address the origin of an injury, not just the injury itself.

At Back on Track Sports Physiotherapy this service is provided by the most highly trained physiotherapists in the field who provide:

  • Reduced pain and safe management of your injury
  • Correction of poor biomechanics that underlie injuries
  • Development of resistance threshold to injury
  • Stabilisation Exercises that assist your muscle groups to function safely and more efficiently
  • An overall feeling of physical and mental well-being, with optimal posture, balance and motor control.

Initial Assessment

A 60 minute one-to-one initial Pilates session is required prior to commencing Clinical Pilates to ensure the Pilates concepts are thoroughly cemented.  A detailed and specific biomechanical assessment is conducted to assist with program formulation.

One-On-One Sessions

One-on-one functional rehabilitation with a Physiotherapist utilising all the unique Pilates reformer, Trap table, Swiss balls, floor exercises, suspension training, foam rollers, wobble boards and resistance bands.

The Physiotherapist who conducts your introductory session will inform you if one?to-one sessions are necessary as a precursor to Pilates studio sessions, Pilates classes or a rehabilitative gym program (sessions by appointment).

 


Studio Pilates

Small groups of 4 people (maximum) supervised by Physio Pilates instructor. Exercises prescribed target specific needs of the individual based on the initial assessment findings and the current condition of the participant. Technique is constantly checked and meticulously corrected by the Physiotherapist to ensure maximum benefits are gained.

 

Studio Pilates is recommended for rehabilitation of spinal pain, peripheral injuries and pre or post-natal conditioning. Some participants will require a number of one-to-one sessions with the Physiotherapist prior to commencing studio sessions.
Time : Approx 45 mins. Class Size : 4 max.
